I needed a two-up bike to take my wife for rides. Yeah, the monoposto CL350 is cool, but if we ever went anywhere, she would have to drive. I also wanted something more reliable than my CL350. Since I love two-stokes--the power band, the sound, the greasy, oily mess--I went with the RD400. I really wanted an RD350, but it sold the day I went to pick it up.
I didn't waste a lot of time and immediately put clubmans on it. The bike came with semi-drag bars, wich actually worked well. If I don't like the clubmans, I'll switch to regular drag bars. I also promptly put DG pipes on the bike. This necessitated some carb tuning, which I'm slowly understanding more. I'm sure I'll eventually run too lean and blow a hole in the piston. That's fine because I need to take the top-end off to paint it.
